1 DAY KITCHEN KNIFE MAKING COURSE - 24th January 2025
9AMThis day course will introduce you to the basics of blacksmithing and hand forge work with Jacek Robótka of Jorgen Craft. This is one day class concentrating on the particular techniques of forging a small kitchen knife. The blade shape will be based on Viking era knife find from Birka, grave Bj 903.Starting with fire control and hand hammer work, you will learn carbon steel forging. We will forge the blade and then tang, we then work the edge down to a thin section and forge the blade bevel. You will then heat treat your blades in 3 processes (normalising, hardening and tempering). You will then clean up the blades on a grinder so that they are ready for you fit to a pre made handle and then finally sharpen and strop to a razor’s edge.
No prior experience is needed and the class will guide you through.
