Blacksmith Courses Calendar

  • Forge Your Own Kitchen Knife – Blacksmithing Workshop in Leeds - 31st July

This one-day blacksmithing course in Leeds introduces you to the basics of blacksmithing and hand forging with Jacek Robótka of Jorgen Craft. In this hands-on knife forging workshop, you’ll learn the techniques to forge your own small kitchen knife, inspired by a Viking-era blade from Birka, Sweden (grave Bj 903).

Starting with forge safety, fire control, and hammer work, you’ll work carbon steel to shape the blade and tang, draw the edge down to a thin section, and forge the bevel. You will then heat treat the blade through normalising, hardening, and tempering.

Finally, you’ll grind and finish the blade, attach it to a pre-made handle, and sharpen and strop to a razor edge. No prior experience is required, and full guidance is provided throughout the day.
