One of our recent projects involved designing and fabricating a custom scope mounting solution for a rare FLZ air rifle from the 1920s. Since this classic rifle was never intended to carry optics, it lacked any form of mounting rail. To overcome this, we engineered a handmade clamping bracket from mild steel, carefully designed to wrap securely around the rifle’s cylinder.

To protect the finish and improve stability, the inside of the bracket was lined with leather, ensuring a snug fit without leaving marks or damage. On top, we installed an 11mm Parker Hale dovetail rail, creating a solid yet sympathetic platform for optics.

The mount allowed us to fit a vintage Diana 3x scope from the 1960s–70s, giving the rifle a period-correct sighting upgrade while maintaining its authenticity. Importantly, the entire system was built with no drilling, soldering, or permanent alterations, meaning the rifle remains completely original and the setup is fully reversible.
