Forge Viking Spearhead Candle Holder – Blacksmithing Workshop in Leeds - 29th May
Description
Ever wanted to forge a striking piece of functional metal art? Join master bladesmith Jacek Robótka of Jorgen Craft for a one-day, hands-on blacksmithing workshop in Leeds, where you’ll create a hand-forged spearhead candle holder inspired by historical weapon forms and traditional smithing techniques.
This beginner-friendly blacksmithing course focuses on shaping hot steel using classic tools and methods, resulting in a bold, sculptural candle holder that looks just as good lit as it does on display.
What You’ll Learn
-
Steel Preparation: Separate and cut steel using a blacksmith’s guillotine to create the material for the spearhead socket.
-
Socket Forging: Hammer and spread the steel to form the socket, then wrap and shape it on a swage block to create the traditional spearhead form.
-
Spearhead Shaping: Forge the point (tip) and carefully shape the blade flats, learning control and precision at the anvil.
-
Finishing Techniques: Grind and refine the spearhead, then apply hot blackening for a durable, traditional forged finish.
-
Final Assembly: Mount your finished spearhead securely into a custom stand, transforming it into a unique candle holder.
By the end of the day, you’ll take home a completed, hand-forged spearhead candle holder — a dramatic, one-of-a-kind piece that combines history, craftsmanship, and function.
